The IRS informed us on February 10 that this is a temporary situation and should be resolved in several days. At that time, you will be able to get an expected refund date when you visit “Where’s My Refund.” This is an IRS issue and impacts returns regardless of who sends them in to the IRS. This is not a TurboTax issue. If you have received an acknowledgement of your tax return from the IRS, then the IRS assures us they have received your return and are processing it. Information on the status of your refund will be updated in “Where’s My Refund” once your return processes. This is a temporary situation, and we expect to resolve the matter in a few days. IRS expects the vast majority of tax refunds to continue to be issued within the historical range of 10 to 21 days. Also, please see additional information on this link: The IRS has updated it’s Where’s My Refund site with additional FAQs: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=254102,00.html Good question. In fact, it’s one of the most common questions we get at TurboTax. And no wonder. If you’re getting money back, you obviously want to know when it’ll be in your bank account. While the IRS explicitly states it doesn’t guarantee a specific date for depositing a refund, the general rule of thumb for e-filed returns with direct deposit is this: if you e-file your return by noon Thursdays, you’ll see your refund deposit the following Friday. If you e-filed between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21 and opted for direct deposit, the IRS says it should be in your bank account on Jan. 29. If you chose to get a paper check, that will be mailed Feb. 5. If you want a specific answer, just go to Where’s My Refund? You’ll need to provide some simple information from your tax return: • Your Social Security Number (or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) • Your Filing Status • The exact dollar amount of your refund E-filers can get their refund information 72 hours after the IRS acknowledges your return has been accepted. So, if you e-file your return on Jan. 30 and you’re still waiting for your refund on Feb. 30, you know there’s a problem. Time to give the IRS a jingle. You can get your refund status information by calling 1-800-829-1954 or 1-800-829-4477. Reply Hi Shawna, Not in the slightest bit. We are a partner with the IRS and they support our company. Now to address your question about why your friend is receiving her refund before you. Per the IRS, their refund cycle chart is based on PROJECTED dates and normal processing. Some returns require additional verification of information. In addition, the IRS is now experiencing processing delays due to changes in their processes unrelated to TurboTax. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I recieved a email from the bank saying my deposit date was changed to Feb 1st which is on a wednesday, years prior the irs normally deposited on a friday. but today is wednesday and I did not recieve my return. Reply Hi William, I hope you received you refund. If not here is an update from the IRS on 2/10 http://blog-turbotax-intuit-com-develop.go-vip.co/2012/02/11/irs-updates-wheres-my-refund/ Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply Just a quick question for clarification, I filed my taxes with Turbo Tax on Jan 27th 2012. I received an email later the same day saying my return had been accepted and that status updates via the IRS tool would be available after a 72 hour wait. After waiting a few days I checked up today (Jan 31st 2012) with the IRS and I get the message “We are sorry, we cannot provide any information about your refund.” Does this mean my e-filed return has been lost by the IRS or just that their systems haven’t been updated to reflect its current status even after 4 days? Reply Hi RH, It would just mean that their system was not updated if your return was already accepted. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply JC IF TURBO TAX CANT GUARANTEE THE REFUND WILL BE IN MY ACCT. IN 7 DAYS BECAUSE ITS UP TO THE IRS THEN WHY SAY IT WILL BE THERE IN 7 DAYS TO BEGIN WITH. WHY MAKE A PROMISE THE IRS CANT KEEP . Hi Jesse, Sorry about your refund. I wish we would have known about the issue as well. As you will see, the IRS refund cycle chart used IRS original cycle times which are also estimates. On 1/26, they notified us of the changes to their systems. Please see the links on this posts. If your tax return was accepted, I’m sure you will receive your tax return soon. And yes we have clicked the irs wheres my refund tab and it has responded back it has been accepted if u dont owe and are no other delays it will take 72 hours to process THAT WAS 8 DAYS AGO. So apparently there is some delay huh lol wow. Reply Hi Jonathan, The delay has nothing to do with TurboTax. We transmitted your tax return on 1/17 when the IRS began accepting e-files. Once it is transmitted, the IRS accepts your tax return and has to send your deposit. The delays you are experiencing are industry wide due to IRS processing delays. Yet, i checked WMR and they just registered that my taxes have been filed and that I’m going to get my refund on 2/7/12. Reply Hi Katie, Per the IRS, the IRS e-file refund cycle chart has projected dates based on normal processing and assumes your return does not require further review. There may be situations where some returns require more review than others. In addition per the IRS, your financial institution may take an additional five days to deposit your funds into your account. Please see this information per the IRS refund cycle chart http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdfSimilar Please note, once your tax return is electronically transmitted to the IRS, we do not have control over the IRS accepting your return and depositing your funds. If you received notice that your return was accepted you should receive your deposit, but please keep the above information per the IRS in mind. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply I filed my taxes online with turbotax and the status stills says pending after 3 days. How do i find out if turbotax really filed my tax form? Reply Hi Hakeem, All taxes that were filed with TurboTax and were requested to be e-filed were electronically transmitted to the IRS on 1/17 when they started accepting them. The IRS gives an estimated time of up to 48 hours to be notified of acceptance, however they emphasize also that this is an estimate. Keep in mind that they just started accepting electronically filed tax returns on 1/17 and they have a lot to process. Also note, some people may receive notice of acceptance before others since everybody’s tax situation is different. You should hear something from the IRS soon if you have not already. I CALLED THEM BUT THEY CAN’T GIVE ME ANY ADDITIONAL INFO FROM WHAT THE SITE SAY DOES THIS MEAN THEY WILL BE MAILING ME A PAPER CHECK? Reply Ok so I filed in Jan but put in the wrong account # for dd, so the money was then mailed to my old address, the problem is that I moved to AK right after I efiled and I couldn’t update my mailing address cause my husband hadn’t gotten our apt with a new mailing address yet. So after calling and calling and calling various numbers and waiting weeks on end someone at TT was kind enough to give me another TT # to call and told me to wait till I get a rep. Once I got said rep on the phone (2 weeks ago now) I explained my situation, she then told me she would have my check canceled and she would email me a document to request a change of address. Well I gave the address to the rep, she read it back to me w/ spelling and all so I know it was correct, and told me I will have to fill out that form and send copies of 2 forms of ID… problem is I still havn’t received the email!! Really what gives? Because of all this drama, me and my husband have been sleeping and sitting on the floor because that money is to get us furniture. Also I can’t get any answers about my state return from GA, I mean come on if you are gonna be charging me 89 bucks I would expect to at least get some answers!! Reply Good news! Looks like they are starting to send out refunds for those of us who were repaying the home buy’s credit. I talked to 2 IRS agents. One said April 9th the other was not as specific but he said it should be any time now. I just checked on IRS.gov and it stated by April 12. So at least there is an end in sight. This has been crazy for those of us who never have had problems with filing and refunds in the past. Reply I was told by turbotax that I would get my education credit(I am a college student). When it went through the IRS they decided that because my parents can claim me (they were not going to claim me because I paid for most things I needed this year) that I am not able to get the credit. Turbotax software clearly showed that if my parents do not claim me, even if they could, that I would get this amount back. I eventually received an email saying that turbotax will pull the fee for using turbotax directly from my banking account(which does not have enough money in it to pay the charges). I called turbotax to complain that they were wrong about my refund, and that I am completely unhappy with the service this year. I don’t want to be charged fees when turbotax is so inaccurate. They told me that they would cancel the charges against me. Yesterday I received another email telling me that I was going to be charged again. This email came after I was told I would not be charged. It also told me that if I tried to pay any other way rather than that bank account I would probably be charged twice since it has now passed the date. I dealt with the problem before hand so it would not take from an account that does not have enough money. I also had the fees waved. What is this about? Reply I filed with TurboTax on 03-04-11 and was supposed to receive an e-filed return on 03-14-11 through the Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. They never transferred either of my returns electronically and on 03-20-11 I received a phyisical check for my federal return. I still have not received my state return. I have tried to contact Santa Barbara Tax and Turbo Tax but get nowhere. I am very displeased and frustrated. I need help… where is my state refund? Reply Seems that if you are paying back a First time home owners loan that they are have trouble processing those electronically and haven’t been able to process anyone’s refund that submit that form. -Ben Reply Ok my thing is simple i filed the 27th with turbo tax and when i was done it said my estimated return date is March 18 but I checked the IRS where is my refund and they say it wont be mailed out till the 18th so would that mean it wont get here till way after the 18th? Reply Well, my husband and I filed w/Turbo tax Jan.28th, it is now march 12th and still no sign of a refund. The IRS said, as of Monday March 7th, that it is just now being processed. We were guaranteed our refund (e-file) by the 11th of February. Did not happen. I think we’ll be going back to our regular tax preparer next year. Reply Hi Joanna, Your refund should not come in two part here. It sounds like the IRS may have taken money out of your refund. Here is an IRS article explaining why the IRS might take money out of your refund: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203.html#skiptocontent Ashley Reply HI Karen, No, that is not related to choosing direct deposit in TurboTax. I recommend calling the IRS, per the instructions you received from the Where’s My Refund tool. They should be able to tell you why your refund is being delayed. Ashley Reply So uhm, the IRS page says my money was deposited on march 2nd, and it’s now the 5th, I called yesterday on the 4th and asked my bank if there was a pending deposit, and there is not. The IRS page says wait till the 7th to call them if there was a problem. So no money, the IRS says they deposited.. looks like I’m another person on this list. Reply I received an e-mail saying my refund was not enough to cover my TT fees. The letter indicated that some funds may be deducted for back child support etc. I contacted the IRS and they indicated my taxes were still being processesed and that my refund was still expected to be what I originally believed it to be. You’re really going to extract your fee from my personal bank account when the IRS hasn’t even completed processing my refund? If anything you should be refunding the cost of my tax preparation. I filed on January 16th…My taxes got accepted on 01/23/2012 but I have yet to see an update. The inital date of DD on my TURBOTAX card was 02/01/2012.Now its been moved to 02/07/2012.Problem is, my friend did her taxes at H&R block on 01/21/2012 and received a check from H&R block on 01/31/2012.Now i know you keep saying its not TURBOTAXES fault for the delays, however I heard that TURBOTAX is being audited by the IRS and all TURBOTAX customers will experience delays for DD…Is this true? Just a quick question for clarification, I filed my taxes with Turbo Tax on Jan 27th 2012. Reply
Hi RH, It would just mean that their system was not updated if your return was already accepted. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply
JC IF TURBO TAX CANT GUARANTEE THE REFUND WILL BE IN MY ACCT.
Yet, i checked WMR and they just registered that my taxes have been filed and that I’m going to get my refund on 2/7/12. looking at the comments from last year, this year is going to be the same. I was told estimated deposit date was today 01/25/2012 but nothing on my card. Not sure if this was the way to go but I wanna beleive in TurboTax. I have used them the last two years and no problems but both years I took paper check in the mail..this year I took the rapid refund card…but so far there is nothing rapid about it. Its got me biting my nails, sleepless nights cuz now there is nothing to do but worry. The “where’s my refund” sight is down (how convenient)…can someone, anyone let me know if there was actually one single deposit on the rapid refund cards today…at least then I know whether to panic or not~!!!! Hi Katie, Per the IRS, the IRS e-file refund cycle chart has projected dates based on normal processing and assumes your return does not require further review. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis Reply

I filed my taxes online with turbotax and the status stills says pending after 3 days. How do i find out if turbotax really filed my tax form? Reply
Hi Hakeem, All taxes that were filed with TurboTax and were requested to be e-filed were electronically transmitted to the IRS on 1/17 when they started accepting them. Ok so I filed in Jan but put in the wrong account # for dd, so the money was then mailed to my old address, the problem is that I moved to AK right after I efiled and I couldn’t update my mailing address cause my husband hadn’t gotten our apt with a new mailing address yet. Reply

Good news! Reply
I was told by turbotax that I would get my education credit(I am a college student). Reply

Well, my husband and I filed w/Turbo tax Jan.28th, it is now march 12th and still no sign of a refund. The IRS said, as of Monday March 7th, that it is just now being processed. We were guaranteed our refund (e-file) by the 11th of February. Did not happen. I think we’ll be going back to our regular tax preparer next year. Reply
Hi Joanna, Your refund should not come in two part here. It sounds like the IRS may have taken money out of your refund. Here is an IRS article explaining why the IRS might take money out of your refund: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203.html#skiptocontent Ashley Reply
HI Karen, No, that is not related to choosing direct deposit in TurboTax. I recommend calling the IRS, per the instructions you received from the Where’s My Refund tool. They should be able to tell you why your refund is being delayed. Ashley Reply
