The IRS informed us on February 10 that this is a temporary situation and should be resolved in several days. At that time, you will be able to get an expected refund date when you visit “Where’s My Refund.” This is an IRS issue and impacts returns regardless of who sends them in to the IRS. This is not a TurboTax issue. If you have received an acknowledgement of your tax return from the IRS, then the IRS assures us they have received your return and are processing it. Information on the status of your refund will be updated in “Where’s My Refund” once your return processes. This is a temporary situation, and we expect to resolve the matter in a few days. IRS expects the vast majority of tax refunds to continue to be issued within the historical range of 10 to 21 days. Also, please see additional information on this link: The IRS has updated it’s Where’s My Refund site with additional FAQs: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=254102,00.html Good question. In fact, it’s one of the most common questions we get at TurboTax. And no wonder. If you’re getting money back, you obviously want to know when it’ll be in your bank account. While the IRS explicitly states it doesn’t guarantee a specific date for depositing a refund, the general rule of thumb for e-filed returns with direct deposit is this: if you e-file your return by noon Thursdays, you’ll see your refund deposit the following Friday. If you e-filed between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21 and opted for direct deposit, the IRS says it should be in your bank account on Jan. 29. If you chose to get a paper check, that will be mailed Feb. 5. If you want a specific answer, just go to Where’s My Refund? You’ll need to provide some simple information from your tax return: • Your Social Security Number (or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) • Your Filing Status • The exact dollar amount of your refund E-filers can get their refund information 72 hours after the IRS acknowledges your return has been accepted. So, if you e-file your return on Jan. 30 and you’re still waiting for your refund on Feb. 30, you know there’s a problem. Time to give the IRS a jingle. You can get your refund status information by calling 1-800-829-1954 or 1-800-829-4477. Reply Okay I’m worried now because of the hundreds of people saying they didn’t get their money. Is this a scam? Should I alert my bank and tell them to refund the money I paid TurboTax? They claim I’m getting my refund next week. But according to a lot on here, that’s a lie. And you’ll never see any of it. What do I do? The IRS site has my info and says the refund will go through. But if this is a scam, do I refile my taxes? Please help! Reply Well listeners,I am also still waiting for my refund which I was supposed to receive on January 29th. After going through the whole process of waiting and talking to different representatives at different times, my case was finally assigned to an Advocate. She told me that because of a technicality with the IRS system thousands of people have not receive their refund this year. A regular person does not know what is going on, but you have to keep calling and document everything and put down the dates, because after 30 days if they can’t resolve the problem then they have to assign you an Advocate. I had to fax a copy of my return and now it takes another 4 to 5 days for her to hopefully get me my refund. When I hear back I will keep you people updated. But don’t give up, call at least every other day. The advocate also stated that there is nothing wrong with my return, just that the IRS computer’s screwed up. Wouldn’t you think that they would let the person know what is going on. Hope this is helpful to you. Reply Well I’m certainly glad I read through all this! We filed a bit later this year, Mar 28 and chose the direct deposit (ugh You know where) We received confirmation that our return had been accepted, no problems however….no return, nada. Reply I did not consent to the Upgrade and they did it any ways now i am being charged for the account that i shouldnot have there for they sould be reported for false advertisement Reply It is not just Turbo Tax. I efiled mine with my accountant. She said as well as the IRS that i would “recieve” my refund on April 13th. Now, that it’s 1 day prior, I went on the IRS website and they pushed the “mailing date” not until the 16th. And if I dont receive anything by May 16th then call, but “sorry” they can’t do anything until then! VERY frustrated. I was looking forward to that money, especially getting ready to have a baby. Reply I am glad I read this forum, as I was getting very concerned with my results. I’ve used TurboTax for the past eight years and have always received rapid returns after I efile. This year, I filed and received instant IRS approval, however, then received emails from Metabank (this is a first and I PAID for my Turbotax, without asking for a withdrawl from my return). Anyway, I have received two emails from Metabank, one just a simple confirmation, than another stating that I should receive my return in 1-2 business days. It has been 4 business days and when I call Metabank, my SSN isnt even on file?!?!?! I have NOT been happy with this process at all. Granted, this is the first year that this has ever happened, but again, its not fun when people’s money is at stake. I will try to call the IRS to figure out what is going on based on this feedback, but this Metabank company needs to be circumvented in the future…simply causes too much confusion. Aaron Corcoran Reply Robert, don’t get too excited until you actually get your refund. I have read numerous accounts of people being told their refund would arrive on a certain day only to be disappointed. I hope it happens for you. My refund has been delayed over a month now with no date, just the 1301 code. Good luck to all. Reply I filed 1/30/09 with Turbo Tax. I was told immediately it wasn’t accepted by the Fed haven’t heard a word from TT since. BUT TT sure got their money!!! I tried contacting TT and they don’t have any record of me. NEVER AGAIN!!!! D. Reply FOLLOW UP TO MY EARLIER POST Well I just spoke to an IRS representative, my return had indeed left “errors” and my direct deposit will be paid Friday 4/9. Essentially one week late, hardly the end of time, but I wonder what the issue was? Reply Everyone, I filed my taxes on January 27, 2010. I have checked on my refund status four times and each time the refund date has changed. It has changed from April 6th, 12th, 27th, and now May 11th. This is a frustrating process and I have received no answers for the dates changing. I am trying to maintain patience, but I have never experienced such a long process for a refund check. Of course, the IRS has been difficult to contact and I noticed on Turbo Tax Community, multiple people are experiencing the same problem. Why is it that no one is getting answers? What is the IRS doing that is causing major delays? Reply where is my refund at? i filed on 04-3-2010 and it was accepted the next day. i called all the IRS numbers and nothing is popping up when i enter my tax information? does anyone know whats going on if so please help me i need that money pretty bad i am 7 months pregnant . ill appreciate the help thanks Brandee . Forman Reply I filed two damn months ago. no refund. total BS! Reply Yea, i have to say TT is definitely screwed up this year. My return was e-filed and accepted on Mar 22. As of today, i still haven’t received my card in the mail, and my money was deposited yesterday. But because TT can’t figure out how you use a stamp and envelope, my best hope is to receive it in the mail Monday. If not, then i can choose to have TT FEDEX a new card, in 5-6 days. one thing is certain. IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY….DO NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT, USE TURBOTAX THIS YEAR. Reply yah hey this is bull i filed out in january and i still dont have my taxes so ill probly sue for 4 times as much. k. thanks. Reply I had a pain-free experience using TurboTax. My situation may have been unique since I filed early this year, so I did not get a delay in getting my refund. However, I don’t think people should start pointing their fingers at Intuit for the delays. From what I understand, they’re not responsible for when the money is actually sent out or deposited into people’s bank accounts. You should contact the IRS to check the status of your refund. They have your money, not TurboTax. Reply This is my first and last year using turbo tax.. I was to receive my direct deposit today i filed on 3/25 got all the confirmations but nothing in my account.. Life is stressful as it is and people count on that money! Thanks for adding even more stress.. 🙂 Reply I experience absolutely no problems. I efiled on the 23rd…my state was accepted an hour later with my fed about 4 hours later (both the same day) being accepted. I was advised It would be deposited on April 2nd and if it was not credited to my account by the 7th to start making calls. Well I received my $$ on the 2nd when I was told. Everything was how it was told to me. It was a complete pleasure..I really hope all those problems were straightened up and everyone had as pleasurable as a experience as I did…. Reply Wow is TT messed up this year or is it just the IRS? My taxes has been accepted last week and the irs website says it is still being prossed and should be deposited by the 6th of April! but then santa Barba said i would get it on the 2nd of april really do they even know what is going on? Reply So whats the deal with this refund tax card? why would they send an empty card? am i supposed to wait and see if the IRS will put the money on it magically? and how long is that gonna be? its funny. The IRS never is late on sending those collection bill notices to my mother but they cant even give returns in a timely fashion like they advertise. 8 days for a return my ass. Reply I wonder what happened to TurboTax this year, and are you working to fix it? Clearly there was a transmission issue between TT and the IRS. My refund was delayed for the first time in 8 years of using TT. My return was accepted March 22, I should have gotten my direct deposit on April 2, but now WMR shows I should have my refund by April 13. I called the IRS, waited on hold for 19 minutes (not too bad really) and was told my return has gone into “errors” for correction and my return would be processed for direct deposit, likely to be paid on the 9th. TT, I love you, but some form you had this year, the IRS did not like. This is not a coincidence that all these people had similar issues. Wonder was it energy tax credits, was it a certain type of charitable donation? I would hope you will analyze our returns, work with the IRS and avoid this in the future. Overall, it’s been a good 8 years, but you have to get this stuff right! Reply Prepared taxes with Turbo Tax. Could not e-file due to homebuyer credits. Return was mailed 2/1 and received per delivery confirmation by IRS on 2/3. First WMF date claimed we would receive our deposit by 3/6, then it jumped to 3/20, then to 4/6, then to 4/20 and now it shows 5/6. I’m sure it has something to do with the homebuyer credit, but cannot get anyone from IRS to answer the phone to ask if a problem exists. It’s not Turbo Tax – it’s definitely the IRS folks! Reply Hi Mariane – You an get this notice for a variety of reasons (unpaid bills, state taxes, student loans, parking ticket or some other unpaid deb) not just child support. If you have questions you should call FMS at 800–304–3107. Here is additional information from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203.html Hopes this helps. Ashley Reply I had previously made an error with my direct deposit, I had placed one extra number on my checking account. I spoke with a representative and was very helpful. She said that my refund would be bounced back and I would receive a check and to call back if I don’t hear anything. I checked on the refund status on the IRS site my refund is said to have been sent on March 26, I got Tax Topic 203, Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal Non-Tax and State Income Tax Obligations Does everyone’s status mention this? I have no children. I don’t understand why its there. Reply You can check DIRECTLY with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust (SBBT)/MetaBank by visiting this website https://cisc.sbbtral.com/index.aspx . You will only have to enter the exact same information as they request on the IRS “Where’s My Refund” website. It will kind of put your mind at ease at least to show you either a expected due date from the actual bank, or a deposit. I need my money too!!! It’s reflecting the 26th of March for me right now, but the “Where’s My Refund” says that my refund has been pushed back to no later than April 13, so I can only keep my fingers crossed that it may only be a glitch and that my funds will be deposited on this upcoming friday… Reply We e-filed on 3/5, supposed to receive refund 3/19, then 3/23, now where’s my refund says 4/6. That is over a month, the IRS promotes e-file to get your refunds quickly, wish they would follow through. Reply Well I keep getting ridiculous reference numbers like 8002 and 1102. My file was accepted on feb 18 of 2010 and it is the first time I ever used turbo tax and it has not been the best experience not pointing fingers or anything I just think this is Bulls@#*t that the IRS keeps backing out my payment what is this…. Never had a problem. Reply IRS REFUND STATUS CODE #1201 I called the IRS 800.829.0582 ext 362 and the rep told me that the reference code #1201 is a GENERIC code for “Delay” and could be a number of things… in my case it was because I filed an injured spouse form with my return which ‘delays’ my refund by 11 weeks! Turbo Tax has nothing to do with the refunds after the claims are e-filed. It is not a delay of TT, it is a delay of our fantastic IRS… Better to call the IRS than to sit and wonder where your money is. :o) Reply Hi, e-filed on 3/4, accepted by IRS on 3/6/10. Where’s My Refund site said originally “being processed….should receive refund by March 23”. Well last Tuesday (3/16) the Where’s My Refund site changed the date to “being processed….should receive refund by March 30”. So basically they backed up the date a week, I called IRS and they said they did not see any problems, that it was still being processed. Any thoughts on this? If there was a problem would they already have told me? Also, I hate to have to call them again, so I was wondering if I should just wait on the Where’s My Refund site to update….does it only update on Tuesday mornings (monday overnight into Tuesday)? Reply Glad we were able to help you out Kelly!! Thanks! Ashley Reply hey ashley my name is marcus. i was wondering if there is any way that you can help me track my turbotax card? because i filed feb 6,2012 and was accepted the next day and when i called it said my expected deposit date was feb 15,2012 and i have been waiting for my card and i still have not recieved it. is there anyway you can help? Reply Hi Marcus, Please see the below update regarding the refund card. There are updates due to fraud occurring industry wide. Due to a significant rise in fraud across the industry, Intuit has put in place more stringent fraud detection and prevention controls to help ensure that only legitimate cardholders receive the refunds they are entitled to on a TurboTax Refund Card. In a small number of cases, we regret that a hold on some cards may impact legitimate cardholders. You can go here for additional information (see Security & Fraud Prevention): https://turbotaxcard.intuit.com/support/faq_turbotaxcard.html. Please note that the support line included in this article may require some wait time. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis I WAS TO RECEIVE MY TAX RETURN ON 3/5/10 NOTHING SO I CALL MY BANK THEN THEY SAY 3-5 DAYS IT COULD TAKE TO PROCESS THEN STILL NOTHING . SO I CHECK MY MAIL AND THERE IS A CHECK FROM META BANK AND SANTA BARBRA BANK AND TRUST FOR A LOAN AMOUNT OF MY FED REFUND . SO I CHECKED WITH METABANK AND THEY SAID IT WAS RECEIVED AND THEY MAILED IT TO ME BUT IT IS A SCAM I WANT MY REFUND!!!!!!!!! Reply IT IS DEFINITELY NOT TT OR TAXACT FAULT IT IS THE IRS FAULT. STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY TAXES EITHER. FILED AND ACCEPTED 1/19 WITH A DD OF 1/29. FINALLY TALKED TO SOMEONE AT IRS WHO SAID THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THIS YEAR. IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE WHO FILED THE FIRST THREE WEEKS THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A COMPUTER GLITCH. THE IRS PERSON SENT A RESOLUTION LTR TO ANDOVER, MA AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT EVERYTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED. BUT ONCE THEY SENT THE LTR. IT GAVE THE IRS ANOTHER 30 DAYS TO DIRECT DEPOSIT MY REFUND. SO NOW I AM LOOKING AT MAYBE APRIL 1. LTR WAS SENT ON MARCH 1. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOS. THE IRS SHLD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS. Reply Why is it my kids go their mailed back checks 2 weeks ago and I filed my return ( Joint ) return a week before there’s and had direct deposit. Wheresmy retrn site said by Mar23? They got theirs back first in March? Reply i had a date of 3/5/10 from tt, but a date of 3/9/10 from wmr, well i got the state refund dd on the 5th but not the federal, so i checked with the wmr again and it said the 16th well that upset me, now i checked with the wmr again and its saying that they have no information on my refund and it could take upto 3weeks to receive…etc…etc…why does this happen, why don’t they leave a message or something telling us what the problem is…this is disturbing to see all these problems on here, hope someone can answer me, i highly doubt if i’m getting refund now..very upset!!!!! Reply I have had a HORRIBLE situation this year with my taxes. Bottom line is filed on 01/18/10- accepted and here on 03/09/10 still no refund and no snswers from the IRS… I have posted and blogged about my situation all over the TT sites and else where. I THOUGHT that TT did not care.. I will tell ALL of you this.. —–“Turbo Tax Ashley” needs to be given a HUGE Thank you for going above and beyond for me.. She helped privately direct my information to someone in TT that has sat down and taken the time to get some answers… The attention from her and the person who I have been privately speaking with at TT has renewed my faith in TT. They have really stepped up to the plate and shown me that I have not been left out to dry… so to Ashley.. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Reply Hi Terry S. – Unfortunately there is no way to get your return back once you have filed. You can amend your return though. Here is a link that can help you do that. http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/kb/general-program-issues/tax-essentials/7781.html Hope this helps. Ashley Reply Looks like the refund cycle chart is good for some, not for others…. My DD should have been out on 3/5 accoring to TT and the IRS Chart, but the WMF shows 3/16. I didnt check WMF until 3/5 since TT is usually right on. A little snow is DC looks to have slowed up the refunds by a week – Or Timmy G the Tax Cheat is floating it at the track. You never know…. Reply Is there anyway to recall an e-filed tax return filed by mistake. The return was not finished. Thank you. TerryS. Reply I really hate to see everyone bad-mothing Turbo Tax. I filed my federal return with Turbo on 1/24/10, and it was accepted the same day with an expected date of 2/05. I received my money on 2/05. I filed my state return on 2/21 and received my state return back even faster. I believe turbo tax has nothing to do with people not getting their money, I believe it’s the delays with the IRS. Now, my gf was supposed to be getting her money today, but she hasn’t gottenit. metaBank sent her something sayin it should come by next Friday, otherwise call the IRS. I also think it’s really dumb that the IRS only does deposits on fridays. That’s so crazy when you have tons of pople waiting on their money! They should at least do it on Mondays,Wednesdays, and Fridays, because people need their money.I’m sorry to hear about all u guys who haven’t received your money, but don’t blame turbo, blame the internal revenue service. Reply where is my income tax refund Reply Hey All – Understand that everyone is really frustrated. Want to clarify a few things though. TurboTax does not ever handle your refund. Once you e-file or mail in your tax return, it is in the IRS’s hands. We understand that the IRS is experiencing some delays and we are working on getting an update from them. We will post an update here as soon as we get more information. Hope this helps. yah hey this is bull i filed out in january and i still dont have my taxes so ill probly sue for 4 times as much. k. thanks. Reply
I had a pain-free experience using TurboTax. Reply
This is my first and last year using turbo tax.. I was to receive my direct deposit today i filed on 3/25 got all the confirmations but nothing in my account.. Life is stressful as it is and people count on that money! Thanks for adding even more stress.. 🙂 Reply
I experience absolutely no problems. Reply
Wow is TT messed up this year or is it just the IRS? My taxes has been accepted last week and the irs website says it is still being prossed and should be deposited by the 6th of April! but then santa Barba said i would get it on the 2nd of april really do they even know what is going on? Reply
So whats the deal with this refund tax card? why would they send an empty card? am i supposed to wait and see if the IRS will put the money on it magically? and how long is that gonna be? its funny. The IRS never is late on sending those collection bill notices to my mother but they cant even give returns in a timely fashion like they advertise. 8 days for a return my ass. Reply
I wonder what happened to TurboTax this year, and are you working to fix it? Reply
Prepared taxes with Turbo Tax. Reply
Hi Mariane – You an get this notice for a variety of reasons (unpaid bills, state taxes, student loans, parking ticket or some other unpaid deb) not just child support. If you have questions you should call FMS at 800–304–3107. Here is additional information from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203.html Hopes this helps. Ashley Reply
I had previously made an error with my direct deposit, I had placed one extra number on my checking account. Reply
You can check DIRECTLY with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust (SBBT)/MetaBank by visiting this website https://cisc.sbbtral.com/index.aspx . You will only have to enter the exact same information as they request on the IRS “Where’s My Refund” website. It will kind of put your mind at ease at least to show you either a expected due date from the actual bank, or a deposit. I need my money too!!! It’s reflecting the 26th of March for me right now, but the “Where’s My Refund” says that my refund has been pushed back to no later than April 13, so I can only keep my fingers crossed that it may only be a glitch and that my funds will be deposited on this upcoming friday… Reply
We e-filed on 3/5, supposed to receive refund 3/19, then 3/23, now where’s my refund says 4/6. That is over a month, the IRS promotes e-file to get your refunds quickly, wish they would follow through. Reply
Well I keep getting ridiculous reference numbers like 8002 and 1102. My file was accepted on feb 18 of 2010 and it is the first time I ever used turbo tax and it has not been the best experience not pointing fingers or anything I just think this is Bulls@#*t that the IRS keeps backing out my payment what is this…. Never had a problem. Reply
IRS REFUND STATUS CODE #1201 I called the IRS 800.829.0582 ext 362 and the rep told me that the reference code #1201 is a GENERIC code for “Delay” and could be a number of things… in my case it was because I filed an injured spouse form with my return which ‘delays’ my refund by 11 weeks! Turbo Tax has nothing to do with the refunds after the claims are e-filed. It is not a delay of TT, it is a delay of our fantastic IRS… Better to call the IRS than to sit and wonder where your money is. :o) Reply
Hi, e-filed on 3/4, accepted by IRS on 3/6/10. Also, I hate to have to call them again, so I was wondering if I should just wait on the Where’s My Refund site to update….does it only update on Tuesday mornings (monday overnight into Tuesday)? hey ashley my name is marcus. i was wondering if there is any way that you can help me track my turbotax card? because i filed feb 6,2012 and was accepted the next day and when i called it said my expected deposit date was feb 15,2012 and i have been waiting for my card and i still have not recieved it. is there anyway you can help? Hi Marcus, Please see the below update regarding the refund card. Thank you, Lisa Greene-Lewis
I WAS TO RECEIVE MY TAX RETURN ON 3/5/10 NOTHING SO I CALL MY BANK THEN THEY SAY 3-5 DAYS IT COULD TAKE TO PROCESS THEN STILL NOTHING . Reply
IT IS DEFINITELY NOT TT OR TAXACT FAULT IT IS THE IRS FAULT. Reply
Why is it my kids go their mailed back checks 2 weeks ago and I filed my return ( Joint ) return a week before there’s and had direct deposit. Wheresmy retrn site said by Mar23? They got theirs back first in March? Reply
i had a date of 3/5/10 from tt, but a date of 3/9/10 from wmr, well i got the state refund dd on the 5th but not the federal, so i checked with the wmr again and it said the 16th well that upset me, now i checked with the wmr again and its saying that they have no information on my refund and it could take upto 3weeks to receive…etc…etc…why does this happen, why don’t they leave a message or something telling us what the problem is…this is disturbing to see all these problems on here, hope someone can answer me, i highly doubt if i’m getting refund now..very upset!!!!! I have had a HORRIBLE situation this year with my taxes. Reply
Hi Terry S. – Unfortunately there is no way to get your return back once you have filed. You can amend your return though. Here is a link that can help you do that. http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/kb/general-program-issues/tax-essentials/7781.html Hope this helps. Ashley Reply
Looks like the refund cycle chart is good for some, not for others…. Is there anyway to recall an e-filed tax return filed by mistake. The return was not finished. Thank you. TerryS. Reply
I really hate to see everyone bad-mothing Turbo Tax. Hey All – Understand that everyone is really frustrated. Ashley Reply
Tax Topic 203, Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal Non-Tax and State Income Tax Obligations Why is everyone receiving this particular message? Just curious? Thanks! Reply
